Double victory at the DM65 in Schwedt
The fourth round of the German 65cc Championship took place near the Polish border on 28/05/2023. MC Schwedt hosted the event on its sandy uphill and downhill track and was able to offer all riders optimum track conditions in perfect weather conditions.
We travelled to Schwedt to extend our lead. I got to grips with the freshly scrubbed track straight away in free practice and set the fastest time. It was a similar picture in qualifying, I was able to set fast lap times right from the start and took pole position for the fourth time in a row.
After a short track walk during the lunch break, it was already time for the pre-start. I took a very close look at the freshly watered track on the formation lap. The reaction at the start was ideal and I was able to steer my Husqvarna round the tight right-hand bend on the slope first and lead the field. I was already able to pull away from the chasing pack by around five seconds on lap one. I extended my lead to 35 seconds by the time I crossed the finish line and confidently won the first race.
The start to the second race was again very good, and I was again the first to turn round the tight right-hand bend. I was able to pull away very quickly on the now somewhat rutted track and set consistently fast lap times without taking any risks. With a 41-second lead over the second-placed rider, I was able to win the second race at all times and take home the winner’s trophy.
In the championship, we were able to increase our lead to 46 points and remain on course for the title. Next weekend we will be travelling to Slovakia for the fourth meeting of the EMX65 Central Europe Zone. I want to score some more points there and qualify for the semi-finals at the end of June in Axel, Holland.
