German Youth Motocross Championship 65cc in Gräfentonna

On Sunday, 21 August 2022, MSC Gräfentonna hosted the third round of the German Youth Motocross Championship 65cc in glorious weather. As usual, the field of riders was full and the track was in great condition.

The free practice session already showed how strong the field of riders is, I set the third-fastest time and was able to motivate myself for the upcoming qualifying session.

It was close in qualifying. I was the fastest rider on the track at the start and set the first fastest time. However, it was clear that the fastest times would be set towards the end of the session.

And so it was, as championship leader Neo Nindelt set an unbeatable lap time on a free lap and won the qualifying session.

I was once again able to claim third place. A very good result and a good starting position for the start.

The start phase of the first race went much better than the bad start the day before. I came out of the first corner in seventh place and by the end of lap one I was able to cling on to the rear wheel of Englishman Harry Dale, who was in third place. In a thrilling duel over several laps, I was able to get the better of the Brit and overtook him in a right-hand bend on the inside. I was immediately able to pull away and gained about 20 seconds on Dale. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to catch up with second-placed Mika Loberenz.

Nevertheless, a great result.

I got away really well at the second start and left the throttle open for a long time, only Dutchman Dion Brakke was able to squeeze past. In turn two, Neo Nindelt squeezed past me, allowing Nindelt to take second place.

Nindelt and I passed the Dutchman Brakke on the first lap.The gap between the two in the leading group was a constant four seconds over the entire race. I was able to finish in a safe second place and was delighted with my third podium in a row at the German Championships.

Second place in the Gräfentonna daily standings and second place in the championship were further consolidated. The race continues at the end of September in Torgau, Saxony, at the MSC Pflückuff.
